It might only be a matter of weeks before this happens as a leaked screenshot surfaced showing WhatsApp being used for a video call. WhatsApp has been through a lot of changes since Facebook acquired it and it keeps getting better. Earlier this year, the application was enabled for voice call ever since, it has gone though a lot of updates with several changes made
A German website posted two screenshots showing the planned WhatsApp video call feature. According to the website, this is being tested internally. The report on
Macerkopf , translated from Dutch, reads:
“ The official version of WhatsApp, which is currently in the iOS App Store, carries the version number 2:12:12. Internally, the developers and beta testers are already a few steps further. To our knowledge, the 2.12.16.2 is currently tested internally. These functions have already been implemented, it will be incorporated in the coming weeks in a final version.
The screenshot shows the iOS version but if it’s coming to iOS, it’s definitely coming to Android. This feature will surely rival Skype, Viber and maybe Facebook Messenger.
Tabbed chat may be coming too
According to the website, another new feature too might be coming and this will allow users to see their chat in tabs. Instead of hitting the back button to go to another active chat tab, the new feature will allow users switch in between tabs. Perhaps this is going to be like the one on EvolveSMS where you can swipe from the left to see the tabs.
It’s only a matter of weeks before this happens and we may just have to wait. The video calling feature sounds like a pretty cool feature though it’s already on a lot of existing IM plaforms. However, the feature coming to WhatsApp is a big deal for users are prefer the platform to the rest.
