Elon Musk’s ‘Revolutionary’ Space Travel Breakthrough: Rocket Lands Fully Intact

Elon Musk and his company, SpaceX, have made history in the field of space travel. The group’s Falcon 9 rocket flew into space on Dec. 21, launched 11 satellites, and returned to Earth in an upright, vertical position, fully intact, just moments later.

What an epic moment to remember! Elon Musk’s company, SpaceX, has been striving to cut down the cost of space travel, and they took a major step in the right direction on Dec. 21 by successfully launching a rocket that returned to Earth completely intact for reuse.

The 23-story rocket took off from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station at 8:29 pm, launched 11 satellites, and landed six miles away from the launch pad minutes later. Upon landing, the rocket was still vertical and completely intact, which is a massive success for Elon and SpaceX in their aspiration to make rockets reusable.

“It’s a revolutionary moment,” Elon told reporters afterward. “No one has ever brought a booster, an orbital-class booster, back intact.” He added that he “could not have asked for a better mission or a better day.” During the monumental event, the first-stage rocket separated from it’s upper-stage booster. The latter went into orbit to release the satellites, while the main-stage returned back to Earth and landed on a refurbished launch pad.
