Apple Vs Samsung: Apple Wants Another $180M from Samsung

Apple and Samsung are known to be long-term enemies and the two rivals have been battling in court for about four years now. It’s only less than two weeks when Samsung was ordered to pay Apple $548 million for infringing on the iPhone’s patents and designs. It was reported that Samsung already paid this amount on December 14.

Although Samsung has filed an appeal, this hasn’t stopped Apple for requesting for an additional $180 million for supplemental damages and interests over five Samsung devices manufactured after 2012 according to a report on
Reuters.

After the jury verdict in 2012, Samsung continued selling five different smartphone models infringing Apple’s patents and the iPhone appearance and this is why Apple is requesting the additional charges for supplemental damages.

This has been going on since 2011 when Apple requested for $2.5 billion. After judgement was passed, Samsung was asked to pay $930 million back in 2012.

Samsung disputed the justice and after several court appearances, the court ruled that Apple couldn’t trademark the iPhone’s appearance around May this year.
The fine was later brought down to $548 million.

Ironically, despite all the court drama, Apple and Samsung are business partners. As a matter of fact, Samsung manufactures processors for Apple used in the iPhone among other things.

It’s almost certain Samsung will dispute the additional millions of dollars Apple is requesting for and we will publish an update as the case unfolds.

Never knew they were at war.......

But guys which do you prefer Apple or Samsung.....
