A MAN blended his wife's placenta (for the second time) and served it in cocktails and on pizza to his partner and their friend.
Amanda Maddock, a 37-year- old mother of two, and husband Tom, 31, posed for photos as they chugged placenta cocktails and dined on placenta pizza.
Tom whipped together a 'daiquiri' cocktail and a pizza, adding the special ingredient to both. The placenta, which Tom fried in onion and garlic for the pizza topping, was half- an-inch thick and the size of a dinner plate. The couple even invited their friend Cat to join their 'sit down meal'.
After Amanda's had her first child, Tom decided to blend his wife's placenta to try as a drink. Despite being sick afterwards he shared it with Amanda and Cat and the trio joked about turning into a proper meal next time.
In June, after their second child was born, that's exactly what they did.
Amanda, who is on maternity leave from her job as a legal secretary in Manchester, said: "When Tom blended my first placenta me and my friend Cat had a try. It was a sort of 'I will if you will.
“It tasted very metallic and she said if I have another child we’d go the whole hog and have a sit down meal, half joking really." She added: “Tom fried the placenta in onion and garlic and put loads of seasoning on so it just tasted like spicy liver, it was really tasty though.
“And then he made a strawberry daiquiri, put some pepper in it and added some more blended up placenta - thankfully not breaking the blender this time. “It was delicious. It just tasted like strawberry daiquiri.”
Tom, a HGV driver with HW Coates in Middlewich, said he would definitely do it
again. “Some friends thought I was
a weirdo for eating it but it’s no different to eating something like black pudding. At least you know where it’s come from and you don’t get more organic
than your wife’s placenta.”
