Women who delay starting a family are more likely to have astroke or heart attack later in life, a major study has concluded.

Scientists found women who give birth after the age of 40are two-thirds more likely to die of cardiovascular disease when compared to thosewho become mothers earlier.

Experts said their findings, based on a study of 72,000women, showed the consequences of late motherhood could last for years.

The number of older mothers has soared in recent decades, asmore women concentrate on their career and start families later due to the poorstates many countries find themselves, while some believe being independentas a woman is paramount.
