Heartwhelming : Physically Challenged Student Graduates With The Best Result in Her School

A student has braved all odds to get her degree as she attended her graduation ceremony on a stretcher. Melanie Hartshorn who suffers a rare form of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS)‌ means all her joints are almost dislocated especially those in her spine and neck and her head is gradually sinking into her body. She however showed amazing courage to complete her Bsc Honours degree in Biology at Newcastle University.

Her proud mum and aunt looked on as Melanie posed for photos with a beaming smile before returning to hospital.

For the last two years she has been forced to live her whole life lying down as she can barely lift her head off her pillow without dislocating part of her body.
