The Ooni of Ife, Enitan Ogunwusi has on Friday officiallyunveiled the 42ft Moremi Ajasoro statues, built behind the palace of Ooni. In astatement posted on social media, the Ooni expressed joy, saying that theproject is the first its kind to be 100% indigenously constructed.

Today as we officially unveil the tallest statue in Nigeria,the Moremi Ajasoro statue, the goddess of liberty. Who successfully establishedthe legacy of "what a man can do a woman can do better", the greatest African heroine of liberty.

I am proud to say that this project is the first of its kindto be 100% indigenously constructed. All the materials used were sourcedlocally and traceable to several local government areas in Nigeria.

The statue was constructed by youths, they are the greatestaccessories needed for the development of any nation and must be givenpriority. Nigerian & African youths are naturally endowed. And with thelevel of their education or training undergone, they are the materials neededto develop this country and Africa.

It surprises me that our governments across Africa stillencourage capital flights by always giving the jobs to the foreigners. At theexpense of our youths several of whom are more qualified and competent to dothe job.

I want to stress that Africa has the man power that cancreate, construct, and build standard and original goods. I therefore appeal tothe governments in Africa to empower the youths and give them the chance todisplay their capacities.
