The 2017 Grammy nominations have been announced by the Recording Academy. The 59th annual awards will be given out in 83 categories, most subdivided by genre (rock, country, rap, etc.). Four of those categories — Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist — are open to music from every genre.



The nominations are led by Beyoncé, who landed nine nominations for her monumental hit Lemonade, including nominations in the Album, Record, and Song of the Year categories, with the latter two nominations for “Formation.”

The only other artist to land nominations in all three of those top categories is Adele, nominated for her album 25 and its hit “Hello.” Despite that achievement, Adele managed only one other nomination across the field.

Following Beyoncé are Kanye West, Drake, and Rihanna, all of whom have eight nominations. Along with Adele and Beyoncé, the Album of the Year category (the awards’ most prestigious) features Drake, Justin Bieber, and alt-country artist Sturgill Simpson.

Other nominations include five for David Bowie’s final album, Blackstar; two for comedian Amy Schumer (Comedy Album and Spoken-Word Album for the audio version of her book), and two separate nominations for the score from Stranger Things.

 Wizkid has added another feat to his long list of accomplishments as he has been nominated for a Grammy Award

The Nigerian singer featured and produced on ‘Views’, an album by Drake, which clinched a nomination in the album of the year category.

Though Drake's One Dance featuring Wizkid and Kyla was shockingly omitted despite breaking chart records, the Grammy Award for album of the year is presented to the main artist, the featured artist(s), the producer, the engineer and/or mixer and the mastering engineer.
